Saving one pet won't change the world, but for that one pet the world will change forever.
Kit DeRoche was born and raised on Long Island in New York. As an adult she studied Interior Design but rescuing animals was, as she says, " a deeply embedded part of my DNA." She became a Wildlife Rehabilitator in North Carolina from 1991 to 1997. "It was not that uncommon to find baby squirrels in the laundry room and an injured raccoon or possum in the garage which I had turned into a wildlife MASH unit." In 2005 she moved to the sunny state of Florida with her yorkies and in 2007 she created the Florida Yorkie Rescue. She's been rescuing them ever since! Now with a volunteer base of almost 60 volunteers and growing, she doesn't see herself retiring any time soon.
